The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele is required reading for this workshop, and may be purchased here:

https://www.amazon.com/Yamas-Niyamas-Exploring-Ethical-Practice/dp/0974470643

As the author states in the preface of the book, “We all want to live well. Let’s face it, at the end of the day, it’s not how much you have or how much you accomplished that counts. What matters is how well you have participated in your own life, both the ordinary routines and the extraordinary surprises.”

Trax instructor, Phoebe R. Bredlie will guide an in-depth study of the ethical principles contained within this book, with the intention of having students gain the skills to better participate in this life, and become people and teachers who make a difference.

October First Friday “Outdoor Adventures” by Andy Rogers
Oct 5 @ 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

First Friday’s are back at TRAX with great eats from Friar Tucks Hoagie House and beer on tap from HooDoo, live music by the Rock Bottom Stompers and an amazing artist that hails from Anchorage, Alaska! Andy Rogers is an Alaska-born artist and author, raised in the rural outskirts of Palmer. He grew up hiking, hunting and exploring the Chugach and Talkeetna mountains, and canoeing the lakes and rivers of Southcentral Alaska. The quiet pace and rugged challenges of rural life and hard work inform both his writing and his art as does the beautiful wilderness of his home. His art is centered around paintings and pen work. He pushes the boundaries and expectations of watercolor, mimicking the opacity of acrylic paint or the transparent glazes of oils.

Everyone you see practicing in any yoga studio balancing on their hands or positioning themselves in the bendiest of shapes were at one time, a first time yogi. Many of them probably couldn’t touch their toes at first!

But something moved them to investigate yoga further – whether it was too much stress, needing to lose weight, mending a broken heart, perhaps seeking a new beginning. Or simply, curiosity about all the fuss surrounding this practice.

And that’s all it takes—a simple step to commit to just TRY it and see how it fits your body. Once you are done with this two hour intensive, we hope you feel more comfortable and confident on your mats and at Trax Yoga.

Some things we’ll cover:

*Tips for brand new Yogis
*Basic yoga poses
*Vinyasa and Sun Salutations
*What yoga is and isn’t
*Benefits of Yoga
*Q & A session
